GHD Ubbo Emmius

Only but few can say that they are or have been part of the SGN Committee. This year, this honour falls to eight people of our association. Together we will organize the SGN day on the 20th of June 2025, that hopefully will inspire history students from all over the country to think deeply about a topic concerning this wonderful discipline of science!

Representing the Board is nobody less than the right honourable gentleman Ruben Dijkema. In the case of the chair’s absence, he is even allowed to preside over meetings as he is also our vice-chair. The one keeping track of the proceedings of the committee, and the decreasing amount of ‘aura points,’ is our secretary, Thomas. Normally, committees have some rules about penalty points, but we don’t, as Thomas likes a so-called Judge, Jury, and Executioner-style.

The treasurer, and also the treasure of the committee, is Noa. With her keen and experienced eye for finance, she makes sure that every penny trusted towards the committee is accounted for. Because the committee cares deeply about both the public and the relations, we have no less than two people on PR, namely Ruben van Dijken and Hidde. While the first regards himself as an expert on text (and as somewhat autonomous within the committee), the latter is overflowing with ideas with regard to the use of social media.

For any general assistance, ranging from mental support to the practical stuff, the committee can depend on our two general members, Laurens van Mulligen and Abigaïl. Last in line for this colourful bunch is the chair of the committee, Laurens van Oene.
